Advertising Workbook- TASK 6:
The Regulators
1. The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) regulate TV advertising in the UK.
2. If someone wants to make a complaint about about a TV advert, you could go onto the 'ASA' website and follow the steps on what to do as shown below.
2. If someone wants to make a complaint about about a TV advert, you could go onto the 'ASA' website and follow the steps on what to do as shown below.
3.
4. In this video, we see celebrities swearing and talking about famine. They state the facts about how many children have died in Africa due to the amount of drought that they had. Someone swears again because they are shocked at how many people have died because of the drought. After that they talk about how this can be stopped, and how the audience watching this advert can help to stop this and then they all repeat the word 'famine' a few times. Someone swears again, then we see some text on the screen saying 'we're not asking for your money.', 'we're asking for your voice'. Then we see an image saying 'ONE' and 'ONE.ORG' underneath the image.
5.
This advert was banned because of the amount of swearing that takes place during this advert.
6.
I think the regulators were right to ban this advert because there is a lot of swearing going on even though when they swear it has a beep on it.
Getting celebrities to swear and show their anger about what has happened in Africa is good because it shows that they're not happy about what has happened.
However, up until 0.14 in the video, if people are watching this advert and children are around, they may want to just change the station as they don't understand why celebrities are swearing in this advert.
They could of made this advert in a different way where they won't have to swear to express how they feel about that situation.

Advertising Workbook- TASK 5:
1.
This advert appeals to B and E groups. The iPod appeals to B groups because it's quite expensive so the B group would be able to afford it. I would say in the E group, this advert appeals to Students because some students may have a job and they are more likely to have an iPod to listen to music. The iPod appeals to both genders from the ages of 18- 25+.
2.
This advert appeals to all the groups. This is because anyone is able to buy cigarettes at 18+ and by seeing this advert, they may want to stop smoking. This advert is also for both genders.
3.
This advert appeals to AB and C1 groups. This is because they'll be able to buy this car because of the amount of money that they earn. This car also appeals to males. It also appeals to anyone that likes Ford cars and people that can drive.

TASK 1: My Film Review On Men In Black 3
The film I'll be analysing is Men In Black 3. This film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and written by Etan Cohen and Lowell Cunningham. This film was released on the 25th May 2012. Men In Black 3 features well known actors; Will Smith (as Agent J), Tommy Lee Jones as (Agent K), Josh Brolin as (Young Agent K), Jermaine Clement (as Borris The Animal), Michael Stuhlbarg (as Griffin) and Emma Thompson (as Agent O).
In this film, Borris the animal escapes from prison which is located on the moon. He then goes after Agent K because Agent K is repsonible for the loss of his left arm. Agent K dies so Agent J travels back in time to 1969 to save Agent K and so that things will be the right way its suppose to be. Agent J meets up with the Young Agent K and starts to find out that there are secrets to the universe which Agent K never told him.
The budget of this film was $225,000,000 at Box Office and was grossed at $621,568,042 worldwide. Men In Black 3 was distributed by Colombia Pictures.
Target Audience:
It is rated as PG-13 for Sci-fi, Action and Comedy. Therefore the target audience of this film is for children as long as their parents are with them because there are some scenes with action that young children won't be able to watch with a parent or guardian.
This film is also for people who are 13+ and over and anyone who likes Sci-fi, Action and Comedy.
Reviews:
Men In Black 3 received mostly positive critics. Roger Ebert gave the film 3 out of 4 stars because he felt that Josh Brolin played the role as, Young Agent K very well.

TASK 1: My Review On Short Films 'Soft & Telling Lies' By Simon Ellis
I watched two short films which were directed by Simon Ellis. The first film, I watched, is called 'Telling Lies'. This film is about relationships. The main character (Phil) and his girlfriend (Sarah), split up the night before, then he went off with a different woman the next day. His mum then called him then Sarah called. Even though they split up, Sarah was a bit jealous that he went with a different woman. However, she ended up telling Phil that she slept with his best friend called Darren.
In this film we didn't see the characters on the screen, instead there was a blank black screen and we saw animated captions of when the characters speak. The text had different colours for when each character speaks so that we could see who was talking. When a character was shouting, the text became bigger and when a character was telling a lie, the text was white.
Overall, I liked watching this short film as the storyline was interesting and I think it was different to have a film where you just see the text and you still understand what is going on. Looking at some reviews, some people said 'This film is fast' and 'Its a clever idea which got over a clear message of don't believe all you hear!'
I liked that the film was quite simple and I like the idea used to make this short film.
The second film, I watched, is called 'Soft'. This film is a social drama about a gang of young people who bully a father and son. The dad is then forced to stand up to them, however, he's not really able to deal with them, so in the end the son stands up to them.
Firstly, we see phone footage of a teenage boy getting beating up by a group of young people. After that, we see, what seems to be, a gang leader who scares people on the road and bullies a middle-aged man near the newsagent.
I liked the way the phone footage was used because it was like the person in the gang was recording it all as we were watching it. However, we never saw the camera.
Looking at some reviews, some people said 'Its an intense film', and 'It's a great film and inspiring'. I found this film interesting as I liked the use of the way it was filmed. I also liked that in the end, we didn't expect, the teenage boy, who got bullied by the gang, to end up beating them up with a bat. It was a good film and it was made well.
Comparing these two films, there were a lot more things happening in the 'Soft' film as we could see the characters and everything that was going on. It was more interesting than the film 'Telling Lies' because the film caught your attention and you wanted to see what was going to happen next.

You was able to relate to the film 'Soft' as it was showing us middle-class people and it involved young people who are either in school or on the streets doing nothing.
